We have searched long and hard to find a robust evidence-based methodology that integrates people and projects – and does it in an accessible, practical and structured way.
In 2008 the LeftField team (Lea, Sharyn and Bron) were accredited to use the Prosci internationally recognised Change Management Methodology. This methodology is gaining wide acceptance and take-up across Australia. There are organisations (both private and public sector) who integrate the methodology into their business planning approach, and others who are exploring ways to link it with their project methodology. For some Federal Government departments it’s mandatory for consultants to have this qualification.
We’re excited about the additional range of tools and research-based services we can offer – and it was fascinating to see how the methodology can add value to a wide variety of projects. Sharyn and Bron were accredited in October and worked with participants from USA, Malaysia and both large and small organisations across Australia (yes, there was a strong Tassie contingent!). We had to use the methodology to create presentations delivered to our peers – and a wide range of approaches were used for change projects involving 1-2 people right through to a whole COUNTRY (10 million people in Malaysia!).
The facilitators “Being Human” aimed to create an engaging learning atmosphere (treasure hunts, wonderful food) to offset the impending stress of three full days of learning, doing presentations and completing an exam on the final day.
We’re looking forward to consolidating and extending our use of the tools we’ve learned and integrating them in the work we do with clients in 2009 and beyond…
